Will paint correction damage my paint?
No. Professional paint correction removes a controlled, microscopic amount of clear coat to level out defects. We use paint depth gauges to measure your clear coat thickness before we start and monitor throughout the process. Your paint has more than enough clear coat for proper correction.
How long does paint correction last?
The defects we remove are gone permanently. However, new defects can be introduced over time through improper washing, automatic car washes, or general wear. If you follow proper wash techniques, your paint will stay corrected for years. Adding ceramic coating after correction protects the results even longer.
Do I need ceramic coating after paint correction?
You do not need it, but it is the best way to protect your investment. Paint correction restores the paint. Ceramic coating locks in those results and protects against UV, chemicals, and contamination for years. Many of our clients pair the two together. Ask Charles about package pricing.
How long does the process take?
One-step correction is typically completed same-day. Two-step correction takes one to two days depending on vehicle size and paint condition. We will give you an accurate timeline when you book.
Can you fix deep scratches?
It depends on the depth. If a scratch has gone through the clear coat and into the base coat or primer, it can not be fully removed with correction alone. However, most scratches that catch your fingernail lightly are still within the clear coat and can be significantly improved or removed entirely. Send us a photo and we will give you an honest assessment.
Is one-step or two-step better for my car?
It depends on your paint's condition. One-step works well for newer vehicles with light to moderate swirls. Two-step is the better choice for dark-colored vehicles, older paint, heavy swirl marks, or significant oxidation. Not sure? That is exactly what the consultation call is for. Charles will help you decide.
Do you do paint correction at my house?
No. Paint correction requires controlled lighting, proper dust management, and dedicated equipment that can not be replicated in a driveway or garage. All correction work is done at our Parkville shop. We offer mobile detailing for maintenance washes, but correction is always shop-applied.
What causes swirl marks?
The most common cause is automatic tunnel car washes with spinning brushes. Other causes include wiping the car with a dry towel, using dirty wash mitts, and poor washing technique in general. Once you see them under direct light, you can not unsee them. The good news: paint correction removes them.
